Here to show you the amazing wildlife of Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. To coach and enthuse you so that you take skills and confidence away with you onto future walks in our beautiful countryside.

Whatever your skill level, I can tailor our time towards what you are looking to get out of the day which means you gain confidence as well as great memories.
I can be your personal guide at a time and place convenient to you, this means you can choose how to enjoy the beautiful and rich East Anglian Counties of Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex, as well as further afield on occasion.
I am also an experienced photographer. All pictures on my website are my own. I can run sessions to coach you on many skills and aspects for capturing great wildlife shots. I can share my experiences and hints and tips on improving your photography. I have run series of tailored sessions with guests to build on their specific interests, which meant that they went away with skills to take better pictures.

WHY US?
Doorstep Nature Tours has been set up to help you enjoy the wildlife on our Doorsteps. East Anglia is full of some of the best habitats, the best nature reserves and some amazing species which we aim to help you enjoy. Our days are not just about seeing as much as possible. Watching and experiencing nature is improved by learning and taking time to observe. Improving our skills will help enhance future days out and it’s important to us that you leave our trips with knowledge, enthusiasm and great memories. We get lots of feedback about the pace of our days and that we help guests learn how to explore our amazing environment.
Take a look at our planned DAYS OUT or if you have something specific in mind, look at our BESPOKE DAYS page. Get in touch via the BOOKING FORM it also acts as an enquiry form.
Looking forward to meeting you.
WHY ME?
Hi, I’m Ian and I have been a keen naturalist for over 35 years, travelling the length and breadth of the UK enjoying all aspects of our beautiful countryside. My passion is our amazing birdlife and I also love Mammals, Orchids, Dragonflies and Butterflies. I’ve been known to seek out rare Grasshoppers, Ladybirds and Spiders. I love to share my passion with other people and seeing peoples’ faces looking at a Kingfisher for the first time is priceless!
DoorstepNatureTours recognises that not everyone has binoculars so let me know before the day and I can arrange a pair for you to borrow. It’s all about improving your experience in the great outdoors. This means that you will get more from the trip and create better memories.
I’ve also been a photographer since before digital came along. I love capturing what I see and was an early proponent of Digiscoping. Most of us have amazing cameras in our pockets all the time and have the capability to get great pictures. If you’ve a DSLR or a Smartphone, basic photographic principles apply and I can help you get out of auto settings to improve your pictures. These are skills you will take home with you which means that all your pictures will improve.

DAYS OUT
I offer a wide range of planned trips but if there is something in particular that you wish to see, then get in touch. If you are looking for a special day where you have my time dedicated to helping you in the field, then this is your best option. Whether you want to try to see certain species or want a tailored itinerary, please ask. You may be on holiday in the area and want to get the most from East Anglia while you’re here. A guided day with DoorstepNatureTours makes a perfect present for a loved one.
Time is precious so make the day count with me helping you enjoy and learn more about the nature all around us. I know the best sites and have years of experience looking at nature all over East Anglia. I know all the East Anglian specialities but you can only do so much in a day so have a think about what you’d like to try to see. Nothing can be guaranteed with nature but we can certainly give ourselves the best chance.
We can share the use of a top-of-the-range KOWA telescope and I have a set of binoculars which can be lent on request. It’s all about improving the quality of your day.
A full day with me is £200 for your group of up to 4 people. To get the most from the day it is best to plan what you’re looking to do, being flexible to the weather conditions of the day. I can help with many options and suggestions. I also offer Half-day tours to suit you from £100. We would meet at agreed locations tailored to what you hope to see and you get my full attention to improve your time in the countryside.
Get in touch to see if I’m available and we can then arrange what you are looking to do and see, tailoring the day around you.
